Locus iste - Anton Bruckner
Anton Bruckner (1824–1896) is remembered chiefly as a symphonist, but he was also a devout church organist who left a small, treasured body of sacred motets. “Locus iste” was composed in 1869 for the dedication of a votive chapel in Linz Cathedral, setting the words “This place was made by God” in warm, unhurried harmony that grows from quiet reverence to radiant conviction. It remains one of the most loved motets in the choral repertoire, prized for the glowing simplicity of its language.
